The BVI is fast becoming a cultural event hothouse (no pun intended) and we are delighted to showcase the literary festival being hosted from today 7th November through to 10th November. In the spring of 2024 we were able enjoy an innovative and dynamic festival of art organised and curated by Creative Waves and we are now about to enjoy a three-day extravaganza celebration writing and literature. This wonderful event is now in its fourth year and is going from strength to strength with a growing international audience.

The BVI literary festival was born from the vision of Dr Richard Georges with the collaboration of key sponsors, a primary supporter of the event being VP Bank. Dr Richard Georges is the first poet laureate of British Virgin Islands and is currently the president of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College and VP Bank are a global private bank who have been operating in the BVI since 1995. It is a perfect partnership, with Dr Georges passion for the written and spoken word and VP Banks commitment since inception to social, cultural and charitable endeavours meant that this event was destined to be a unique force in the literary calendar.

Denene Millner is a New York Times Bestselling author, award winning journalist and director of Denene Millner Books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster.
The festival is a truly incredible series of events, Q&A’s and workshops with highly renowned authors which include Safiya Sinclair, David Olusoga, Jason Allen-Paisant, Celeste Mohammed & Denene Millner to name but a few. This year’s celebration is a must-attend, filled with captivating conversations, inspiring readings, and unforgettable experiences for all ages. Events are hosted at the college, private villas, Brandywine Restaurant, The Sushi Bar and Long Bay Hotel. What a perfect combination to enjoy literary talent alongside delicious food and wine.

Jo Vass, General Manager & Head of Client Business at VP Bank shared that “the BVI literary festival aligns with our desire to support cultural and social projects within the community in which we serve. On an island where creativity bubbles under the surface but often lacks a viable outlet, we jumped at the opportunity to support the creative and literary arts in the BVI, through our collaboration with Dr. Richard Georges and the HLSCC team”. This is an event no to be missed.
