This weekend is Christmas in July here in the BVI so let’s get the party started!

This is a beach celebration like no other and it has become one of the BVI’s most iconic summer events. Located in the stunning Savannah Bay on Virgin Gorda there is probably nowhere more beautiful to come together with family and friends. The event is growing every year but in recent years over 400 boats have participated and 5,000 people from all around the Caribbean have come together to party.

This event was created in 2007 by two Puerto Ricans. Marketing entrepreneur and event planner Marcos Rivera and friend Wally Castro, owner of Wally Castro Marine has a vision to create something that would bring the people of the BVI and Puerto Rico.

There has been a long-standing friendship between our countries and we will never forget the kindness and generosity shown to us by the Puerto Ricans in our hour of need. After the storms in 2017 they were on hand with supplies and support. We are proud that the event is hosted here and we love that so many Puerto Ricans consider us their second home.

During this family event, guests can expect to see hundreds of boats together enjoying a beach party with live music with bands from the BVI and Puerto Rico, local restaurants, food, and drinks. In addition, Xmas in July is an event that creates an impact locally, giving back to non-profit organizations and environmental conservation through various initiatives during the event.

Here are some tips to make the most of the w/e celebrations:

• With so many people and boats from all over, it’s best to arrive early and secure your spot.

• You will need your 2024 official tumbler to enjoy the open bars. These are available to buy at the event at the Beyond the Reef tent for $30. No other cup is accepted.

• HIHO will have the XIJ X HIHO collection available including the official XIJ hats and rash guards at their tent

• No dinghy’s allowed in the swim zone

• Do not block or anchor at the access land

• Most vendors only accept cash so swing by the ATM before you head to the party

• Please help everyone and put garbage in the bins so the beauty of the bay remains

• There are vendors selling different foods and cuisines, they are all fantastic so try as many as you can.
